What worked best for me (other than pain medication) was doing something that took your attention. Dwelling on the pain only made it seem worse, so anything to distract the mind helped... I put together puzzles, went back through my highschool math texts, watched movies, etc. Anything to keep my mind somewhere other than my head trying to split apart...answers 2:In all three situations, you need to breath. It's very simple yet most people forget that it's crucial otherwise it makes everything worse! With waxing, you need to take a deep breath in right before they pull, then breath a long breath out when they yank it off. I also took an ibuprofen ! about a half hr before the appt to help. As far as pain from a broken bone, that's just it, it's a broken bone, there isn't much you can really do for that one. If you just broke it and you are waiting for an ambulance or in the car to the doctor, keep yourself still and try to keep people away from you (so they don't accidentally kick your broken leg or something-people get frantic when stuff like that happens and either wanna get close to take pictures or get too close because they wanna help). Doctors should be able to provide you with medication that is stronger than over the counter meds. As far as for the dental operations, depending on what you are getting done you should have some options. If it's a small procedure, like getting your braces put on (then you are just going to be in pain, I know I was because of the pressure), you can take ibuprofen or tylenol before hand to kick start your help. If you are having oral surgery like an implant put in, the oral surgeon ! will have meds on hand to give you in office (like a local ane! sthetic, gas or liquid to knock you out-this is the good stuff, i used it when I had my implant put in but it didn't really work until after the fact, this could have been because of my nerves). Sometimes you also have to evaluate what you yourself are thinking in your head. There is a possibility that you are making the pain worse than what it really is, because you believe you are in pain or will soon be in pain? Hope everything helps!...

Ilana Gaster: You could leave the tennis court as is and turn it into a raised garden.To do this you would build raised beds on top of the court. I would make them at least 16 inches deep. Fill with good compost/topsoil. Then you could have artificial turf laid down. It will allow the water to run off and not flood. You will h! ave to install an irrigation system for the raised beds, but this would probably be the most cost effective. Tearing out a tennis court is expensive and not a job I would want to tackle myself. You'd be best off renting a jackhammer. So I totally understand.I'm a 36 year old guy. The only cavity I've ever had was in a deciduous molar, when I was maybe 9 or 10 years old. But I've yet to have one in a 'permanent' tooth, or whatever they're called.The funny thing is - Until 2007, I probably hadn't been to a dentist for nearly 20 years. Since my mid-teens. When I finally got up the nerve to see one, I thought for sure I'd be in need of major work, maybe even dentures. The cavity I'd had when I was a kid had eaten away like 1/4 of the tooth and required extraction. Yet this happened during a time when I saw the dentist every 6 months.Needless to say! , I was super happy to hear that I didn't have so much as a single cavity after going without the services of a dentist for so long. Alls I needed was a few hardcore cleanings due to calculus beneath the gum line. It's been two years since that last check-up, and I've just had x-rays and an exam. Still cavity free. Is this unusual? How special am I in this regard? I'd always thought that pretty much everybody needs a filling now and then. Are permanent teeth made of better stuff than 'baby' teeth or something?How special are me and my teeth? I can't wait to award 10 points to whomever answers bestly! I am full of anticipation! But to be honest the highest rate of decay occurs in ones teen and pre teen years and if you did not take very good care of them during that time , your! good luck may have been partly due to a diet low in refined s! ugars and not much snacking of harmful foods. You may also have had a lot of fluoride in the water or with supplements. But the main reason you escaped without any cavities is most likely you inherited some good genes from one or both of your parents. You probably fall into about 5% of the population. I don't get cavities as an adult because I brush and floss a lot and don't eat much sugar or acid foods, and my enamel is hard. I think the condition of your teeth is due to the combination of good genetics, good care and good luck. Other things can go wrong with t! eeth besides cavities... like fractures, gum recession, softening of enamel and erosion from grinding the teeth at night. Diseases like osteoporosis or Diabetes weaken the teeth and gums, even if you are meticulous about their care. You must be in good health overall, and it shows in your teeth....
