how long is dental school?

Wilfred Santacruce: 4 years of college 4 years of dental school in the US

Erin Arron: Dental School takes 4 years, but you have to attend college first. Usually, you stand a much better chance of admission if you have a 4-year degree, but some exceptional students might get in after 3-3½ years.Dental Hygiene school varies from 2-to-4 years, depending on whether it's a degree program or not. Some only take you if you have a 2-year associates degree already and give you a bachelors degree after 2 years in hygiene school. Some are only a 2-year RDH certification program. Neither degree pays more money than the other.Dental Assisting school is generally one academic year, but you might even find a shorter program. The full year programs generally prepare you for your state certification exams, which are worth taking. Your starting pay will be a bit higher and it will be a bit easier to get a job.An assistant helps the dentist with procedures and a hygienist clean! s teeth and many other things that an assistant is not allowed to do. A hygienist makes at least twice as much as an assistant. As far as schools, I could do a search for St. Louis schools just as easily as you could, but I don't know anything about which ones might be better than the others. Sorry....Show more
