Why is Bush allowing other nations to take the lead in better gas mileage cars and alternative fuel?

Freddy Shutler: A better life?

Sammy Hatzenbihler: You have to understand one thing here.Bush only cares about his oil.......a hurricane can come and destroy a whole city, and Bush could careless about it.

Aron Ramu: GEE Al Gore,do you have an electric car?Wheres your priass?Thats what I thought.

Dawn Saha: ------------Bush does have something to do with the present situation. His administration worked to kill the ZEV mandate on the west coast, that was forcing automakers to build and lease electric cars there. This story is told in the film "Who Killed the Electric Car", but basically, the automakers then immediately recalled and crushed all the electric cars on the road there, over howls of protests from the drivers.*In place of that successful program, we got a fuel-cell research program, which won't produce any actual marketable cars for decades, if ever. (Fuel cell cars are the least viable alt-fuel vehicles, the research is just an attempt to stal! l any real gasoline alternatives.)*But all is not lost. Look what has been produced with NO help from our government or auto industries:*http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html*The Phoenix electric pickup truck - using new, advanced Altairnano batteries (based on research at MIT) - can:-Travel up to 250 miles per charge-Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph.-Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES.-Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.)This is a real car - it is not just a concept. Orders have been taken, and cars are being built for fleet customers (sales to individuals start next year). So why don't we hear about this car from our press, our government, or the auto companies?-----------...Show more

Ruby Martis: Wow, another thing to blame Bush for. You are getting very creative.

Nancy Mansell: An entire race....and beat traditional race cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh1xMwOO54s

Davida Gisriel: Because he's in! bed with the oil industry.

Ofelia Kieck: Government reg! ulation is not the answer to everything. Hydrogen fuel cell cars with the present technology take more fossil fuel to make the Hydrogen per gallon that we would use to power our cars with fossil fuel. Iceland is the leader in Hydrogen fuel except for their electricity which is Geo-thermal and to compare them to the larger populated developed countries is silly. Hydrogen will be years off. Consider also that Hydrogen is explosive. The emissions is water. So we must also work out millions of cars dripping water on the highways. Especially in the colder climates. Diesel is it's own argument for cleaner buring fuels. Imperial County Calif. uses Geo-thermal but they must add so many chemicals to the well heads to fight corrosion that a low level of radiation is emitted into the air. Everything is a trade off. The power plants use fossil fuels of one sort or another to produce electricity that will recharge electric powered cars. Hoover Dam is a hydro powered generating plant, bu! t we can't dam all the rivers. The French had used nuclear engery safely for decades but the liberals will not allow this to built even though the technolgy has advanced. They want to become independent of foreign oil but will not allow America to develop it's own resources. We now have countries not friendly to the U.S. begining to slant drill into the oil deposits off our shores. Cars that get exceptionally high mileage are limited in their scope of use as far as passengers, comfort and crash survivability go....Show more

Toney Flaten: At the speed an electric care would run, they would run it off the track before the cars finished a second lap.

Germaine Tieken: If you look at UN Agenda 21 UN USA Man and Biosphere Reserve Map (MAB), nearly all of the USA is slated to be turned into a giant biosphere reserve as the world population is trimmed to 500 million worldwide. People will still be living here, but if you look closely at the map, there are only a few ar! eas on the east and west coast, and a few north and south coast, nothin! g inland.. The populated places that will remain are now called "sustainable cities," and they will be growing their own food in the immediate vicinity of these cities, so the big crops in the Midwest will no longer be needed....Show more

Lorelei Lilburn: The Bush administration is not doing much in the area of alternative energy R&D. Some state governors, like Minnesota's Tim Pawlenty, have decided to stop waiting to the Feds to do something and are taking steps to increase the use of alternative energy and give research dollars to institutions to develop new technology.

Cecil Derenzi: There is more than enough oil, and he vetoes a pipeline which would have created lots of jobs....

Becky Mosena: The US will be dead last in alternatives. The corporations own America-do you think they want something like this? The air car has licenses in a number of countries but not the US. They're also working on a generator that runs on air. .http://www.theaircar.com/ ! Back in the 80s, there were cars that got better gas milege than today. Odd, isn't it?...Show more

Laveta Fathy: nytrain (below) You must admit that the Bush admin is not offering any leadership or direction in this area. He decided that he wanted to "Lead the free world". I'm still waiting...

Hai Biggart: Diesel fuel also pollutes the air. I guess you don't live in a state that has smog laws? Electric cars are too costly. One has to charge an electric car. Do you want your monthly electric bill to be $8,965 a month?

Bennie Lantgen: wow. You guys give Bush credit for so much, yet you think he is so dumb. How can that be? You say he is stupid, yet he has time to do all these things you all post about, like he is superman. Just out of curiosity, where do you think diesel comes from?Do you think electric grows on trees?

Esteban Lyson: Yes! I can drink whiskey while I fuel my car.

Ulrike Hert: ohhhh you're in trouble with leftists now. Whether true! or not, that is such a politically incorrect question. If a leftist's c! hild asked this obvious question, they should just slap them right up side the head.

Clay Lipira: screw the UN how many divisions they got??bullscat growing corn for food vs fuel makes sense,as would restoring colorado river h20 to california central valley, farmers there are hurtin.,they hurt to protect the snail darter.noting yahoos addys for ARAMCO petroleum, looking for managers, oil drilling rig workers,no jobs for us,just revenue for yahoo,@ a penny & ?/? per click, your sponsor of exporting jobs for the obamistas and propagandizing leftists, for obama to say 'yes' to oil drilling/exploration for AMERICAN oil outfits,at a penny per click, thousands of gigs, from plywood, building contractors, machinists, pipefitters, all applying on line,& willing to move to where the action is,yahoos register till would fill up,unca sam gets more money, temp agencies hire secretaries, recruiting managers,,the stock market shows the wealthy and so so wealthy willing to toss a couple or 50k i! nto the stock exchange, called investing.all of those hired, commence to spend money, after they've caught up on debts, obligations on the back burner. In a couple years, housing sales & renovation picks up.unemployment extensions can not do this,it is the free markets that drive the accumulation of wealth...Show more

Brian Freedland: Because he doesn't care about the cost of groceries since he gets his for free, and he has no as in none not one iota, clue about economics, nor fuel prices, thank God he will no longer be president as of next Jan

Florencia Manolakis: CAUSE WE NEED THE ******* MONEY!!!!!!That pipeline is pure crap.. if you want to endanger a planet..fine..but not the one I am living in..

Alphonso Brake: there's a instruct on A&E called Rumrunners, Moonshiners and a few thing else and likely it talks to all the moonshiners like Junior Johnson who all began working shine then grew to become very powerful in NASCAR.

Son Ahlers: It could pull in! to the pit stop and recharge for an hour.

Anibal Katayama: Who te! lls you these things? Almost nothing you post here is remotely true.I mean any of you guys can go and try to search what she's saying, it isn't true, obama never ordered that. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to say here, what you're posting is blatantly false....Show more

Elva Batie: You've GOT to be kidding me! So now on top of everything else, it's Bush's fault that auto makers aren't marketing more electirc cars to American consumers??? Is there ANYTHING you people won't blame Bush for?

Emile Okafor: 0.5

Gus Leiby: Why don't you tell us since you have it all figured out race baiter

Esteban Lyson: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20170...

Shawnna Kusky: @ wolfmyth, more like pull halfway out of the pit and have to recharge for 8 hours, which from what I understand is how long you have to charge an electric car for to get the full charge so you can drive it another hour.

Christiane Cattano:

Boris Hadsall: He ju! st wants to see how far they'll go!And than maybe he'll get one if he likes it.Now do you see how easy that was to answer.Try not to make things to hard on yourself. If you do things right, they're easy! And if you're nice to him, maybe he'll give you a little R&D.

Darnell Cutliff: It wouldn't make it around one lap! The darn thing would fall apart! It was "Made In China"God bless fossil burning, V8 running, American driving, Emission removal cars.Screw the EPA and Catalytic Converters! Both are trying to rob to your cars true power!Remember: Oil burning, fossil fuel cars last longer, cheaper and have a 100 years experience over your liberal electric cars!...Show more

Nicolas Cooley: .

Brittanie Zakutney: Foreign cars have always been in the lead. I, personally, would not buy an American car if my life depended on it. They are cheap and worthless.

Toby Caswell: It's not all his fault. There are people behind it. Also, we have our cars made by Third World! people because it is cheaper for the corporations, so don't blame Bush! completely for this problem. He is doing very little to cause it.

Donnell Mollo: Why would bush think about gas economy while killing thousands for the sake of oil..............those two don't add up . If you don't keep consumption of oil at a high level, then there would be no reason for the middle east...and lastly...........BUSH IS A CREEEEEEPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

Kalyn Proietto: PRESIDENT Bush. I know you National Socialists hate to give him the respect due to him, but it is PRESIDENT Bush. Nyah, Nyah, Nyah.Tell you what, you show me the part of the Constitution that allows the Executive branch (administrative) -- or any part of the federal government - to develop automobiles, and I will answer your ignoorant polemic.Or, just take this as an answer: PRESIDENT Bush does not have the Constitutional power to develop any of the things that you want the federal government to do. If you want to develop better gas mileage cars and alternative fuels, go right ahead. Just! don't ask anyone else to pay for it, and do not ask the federal government to stretch the Constitution to cover whatever pet project you have this week....Show more

Tawny Grosskreutz: When has Obama ever done anything that makes sense? he is such a effing tool.

Cortez Badolato: Obama is attacking us from all fronts. A move right out of the socialist playbook.

Byron Fortmann: depends entirely on the design and battery sizeright now the Tesla electric super car can "blow the doors off" all but the formula oneson a flat track it should have tens of miles at top speed and at road speed range is several hundred.the electics are comingthe age of oil is almost over, internal compustion technology belongs to the 1900s just like steam engines were mid to late 1800sif you mis the "roar, they can always add a sound speaker

Francisco Schonhardt: He is not:It must be bush's fault, right?Someone in another country invented something, blame it on bush.Typical lib! eralWHY HASN'T THE DEMOCRAT RUN CONGRESS PROPOSED ANY TAX INCENTIVES???! ?DO YOU THINK THE PRESIDENT CAN JUST MAKE UP RULES AS HE WISHES??????...Show more

Caterina Yeargan: Not sure what your source is or how you define fleeing?

Oscar Wieland: Who goes to Africa for a better life? The migrants from Libya and North Africa should go to South Africa, not Europe.

Paul Maymi: Considering the government also uses subsidies to keep corn at artificially competitive prices, the cost of food is hardly an issue for them. That said, it is a very energy-intensive process to convert tar sands to petroleum. The pipeline would just be part of an overall process to use this as a viable energy option.
